blepharoplasty-50432003.jpg Blepharoplasty - Eyelids Surgery, also called Eyelids Tightening, is the perfect solution for removing those "bags" under the eyes, and drooping eyelids.

The reason that upper eye lids sag more rapidly than the lower eye lids are due to the increased activity in upper lids.

An incision across the fold (crease) of the upper eye lid successfully removes the loose skin which "opens" up the eye again. In case of the lower lids, the fatty prolepsis (which is an inevitable sign of aging) is removed leaving the skin toned and the appearance smooth.

Unfortunately smile or mimic lines at the outer corners of the eyes are permanent and cannot be removed by surgery. Laser techniques, Botox or collagen injections are the only solution for the "crows feet" effect.

Tips and Traps of Blepharoplasty

  • Use cold compresses on your eyes after surgery. In addition, Arnica tablets are very beneficial in minimizing the swelling and bruising following surgery. You can start a few days prior to surgery and continue for two weeks after surgery.
  • Usually a 1- day hospital stay is required but we offer you 2 days. Stitches need to be removed after the 6th - 7th day, one on each eyelid.
  • Normal day to day activities may be resumed a week after the surgery.
  • Make- up & cosmetics may be applied 2-3 weeks after the surgery.
  • Avoid activities that raise your blood pressure (e.g. lifting, bending, and exercise) as well as drinking any alcohol within the first three weeks after the operation.

My friend has enquired about eyelids tightening if surgery was carried out 1st week July would it be possible for her to go to Spain a month after? If yes, what symptoms would she have and what precautions would she have to take?

Dear Ian, I would recommend your friend to postpone her operation after holiday. Every scar must be protected from the sun for 6 months otherwise it can change to be visible with pigmentations. Thank you, Dr Bob Bakalar.

Dear Jacqui, the combination of face and neck lifting with upper eyelids tightening is possible and the price will be slightly above 3 600 GBP depending on what the surgeon says when he sees your photos. Note that the horror stories do not come from the Czech Republic and especially not from Prague Beauty. However, we are aware of the situation and are willing to provide sufficient information to assure you that things go right with us. Our surgeons are fully registered with equivalent medical bodies. These are Czech Medical Council and Czech Association of Plastic, Cosmetic, and Reconstructive Surgery. We send our surgeons licences on request [via mail or email]. I am 34 and am currently considering having my upper eyelids doing and perhaps an endoscopic face lift as I lost quite a bit of weight a couple of years ago and it has left me looking a bit tired as I am developing lines around my mouth and have lost cheek and jaw definition. How long would i need to stay in Prague for that op. [eyelids surgery]?

Dear Michael, you would spend 6 days in total in Prague, from which two days are spent and the clinic where the surgery is done, and then four additional days at the hotel. In case you would like to speed the process up, you may be allowed to flight home earlier (such as after 2-3 days), but you would have to arrange someone (such as the GP) to take out the stitches. If you live close to Manchester, we can send our consultant to do it for you for free. We recommend our clients to use the free time in Prague by going out for some sightseeing as Prague is a really beautiful city worth visiting. Regards, Natalie.

I am interested in having an upper eyelid blepharoplasty. If I book this with you, and I do not see a doctor before going to Prague, how would I know that I am a suitable candidate?

Dear Alison, you are right, you do not have to see a doctor before you go to Prague to have the actual surgery done. However, the surgeon has to see the photographs of the area you would like to change, i.e. your face from front and side view. He will then tell you whether you are eligible for the operation or not. Before you go to Prague, you also fill in a medical questionnaire where you describe your medical state to allow the surgeon to prepare for you in time. Dear Jackie, the total cost of having face lifting with both eyelids surgery done is 3600 GBP / 5500 EUR. However, these procedures cannot be combined with a brow lift, so you would have to have them done in two sessions. Therefore, you would have Face lifting with Both eyelids tightening for 3600 GBP, then wait for at least 6 weeks (the recommended minimum time from our experience is at least 3 months) and then go for Endoscopic browlift that costs 2600 GBP / 3900 EUR. The total time spent in Prague for each session is six days, from which two days are spent at the clinic and the rest at a four-star hotel. If you will feel well, you can spend those four days by sight seeing. You are also welcome to take someone to accompany you.

I initially had my tummy tuck and eyelids done in Sept 2007. The operation was trouble free. From arrival you are in safe, caring and experienced hands. I was quite nervous but the clinic had come highly recommended by my sister and her friend who had had cosmetic surgery there too. I had to complete a detailed testing on arrival as they will operate only if it is completely safe to do so. On return unfortunately I had problems with bleeding. This is something I have had in the past and had to have many blood transfusions previously for similar problems. This was resolved and I returned to Prague in November where I had my breast uplift and reduction. The surgeon took great care to avoid a recurrence and he also pointed out that my tummy was not right and had drained a large amount of fluid from this area. My breast and eyes are fabulous and I felt it would be easier for me for continued treatment at home for the draining of my stomach. This was agreed as long I as kept Natalie, Bob and the surgeon know if I needed their support. By the end of January I had developed hematomas (blood) under the skin. These were not visible, uncomfortable or in anyway life threatening but my general surgeon here felt it was time to inform Prague Beauty, he also said this was not caused by the surgeon but possibly a blood disorder. After contacting Prague Beauty I was flown back to Prague on 8th February (within 2 weeks) and Dr Urban was able to resolve all. It is only a week later but I can see the results are going to be great. He even redid the tummy tuck a little to ensure my tummy would look great. This was all paid for by Prague Beauty and I even got to spend a little more time in the beautiful hotel and city of Prague. During this time lots of medics in England have commented on the excellent work and the minimal scars. I have even had a number of nurses request details, they were so impressed. I know this review is long. But people can rest assured to use the service at a fraction of the costs over here. Its worth it. Go for it, I look better than I did in my 20’s but with very natural results. I met many people also having surgery and kept in touch. None have had any complications and been completely satisfied with their results.
