Neck lifting, also known as platysmaplasty, is a common surgery for people whose neck has lost the "turkey wattle". What To Expect After Neck Lifting Surgery
Normally, the stay at the clinic is for 2 days. You will be recovering at our private apartment for the next 4 days before flying back. During the stay at the clinic, our nurses replace the bandages and then the bandage is kept on for another three days. The client is required to relax as much as possible as unnecessary movement may impair the essential process of healing and may increase bleeding and swelling. The final results could be seen after four months and it usually lasts for about seven years. Any demanding physical activity should be avoided for at least four weeks after the surgery.
The Risks of Neck Lifting
Permanent smokers who continue smoking before and after the surgery can experience loss of stretched skin which might be very difficult to eliminate.
It is important to adhere to the instructions given by the surgeon after the surgery. Poorly maintained skin can leave visible scars or continue bleeding for several weeks which increases the risk of infection.
The skin might be tight following the surgery due to swelling and could make it difficult to move with the neck.

Tips and Traps of Neck Lifting
- Face lifting covers one third of the neck. If you want to undergo both face - and neck lifting, you might be happy with only a face lift.
- It is strongly recommended to stop smoking at least two weeks prior to the surgery. Smoking could slow down the healing process after the surgery because it reduces the amount of blood flow to the damaged areas and reduces the quality and elasticity of skin.
- Neck lifting should also be combined with liposuction of the chin or face lifting and eyelids tightening to counter the effects of aging for maximum effect.
